Storytelling and Veterans
Performances for teens and adults
Love is War is a first person narrative of Private Carl Carpenter’s Second World War experience as an eighteen year old foot soldier in the Philippines and reintegration into civilian life. Shipped out from a small town in northern New York, Pvt. Carpenter goes from lightheartedly training with broomsticks to harrowing trench warfare on the island of Luzon. Meeting his future wife on a blind date we understand how love sustains him during a time of war and saves him in its aftermath. Filled with period music and historic detail this important story remembers the soldiers and families of World War II.
Workshops for Veterans
Stories of Conflict- Stories of Peace
This workshop helps veterans explore and express their war experience through the lens of a heroes journey. Understanding the tremendous choices veterans deal with while in war we also look at the changes that occur because of war. Small groups of both men and women military personnel will focus on listening and expressing their war experience in ways that lead them to new insights and understanding of their identity as soldiers.
